How the scoring works

Each answer adjusts your fit score for each specialty using weights designed by a fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon and validated against 10,000 synthetic resident profiles. Likert questions (1–5 scale) use a "center-on-3, scale-outward" model where extreme answers contribute more than mild leans. Direct-choice questions about your favorite anatomy or patient population carry the most weight. After all questions, scores are normalized to a comparable scale and your top-3 are surfaced with the full ranking below.

Honest scope: This public preview is calibrated for orthopedic surgery fellowship decisions — refined through attending review. We're building Specialty Finder out across other specialties and disciplines too — medicine (MS3→residency and fellowships), PA/NP, nursing, pharmacy, and rehab therapy — but those tracks are still in pilot: calibrated against synthetic profiles and awaiting clinician review, not finished. If you're outside ortho, the quiz still runs, but treat the result as an early pilot to help us calibrate, not a validated recommendation.
